Would there be any way to pull/log some of the stats already generated? Like, I'd love to know how many members join each month and how many logged in on a monthly basis.

As it stands now, I have to copy and past it at the end of every month, but it's a pain.

Any way to pull this info and store it?

Do you use IIP by JustDave. His IIP script will do this for you. You can get it HERE! One of the scripts that gets called in there is called shortstatspal.php and that is the one that does what you want.

Out of curiosity (as I have not yet tried), can you pull the individual pals out of IIP and use them as stand-alones? I know they call a few pages, so a bit of it would need to be re-written in that regard for certain.

Anyone ever messed with this? Just curious if it was time-intensive or something that wasn't too consuming.

I ask because it would be nice to display a few pals on regular pages outside of IIP.

Yeah.... especially if you are using the index page and caching it, you can read the cached info on other pages (like the sidebar does here).

Omegatron - yes, I have IIP! Maybe I wasn't clear, or I'm not reading the IIP stuff correctly. I'd like to somehow store a cumulative stats things, where it automatically stores/displays every month.

So, for instance, it'd store April : New Members and How many members logged in then, May: Same stats, June: Same stats....

Does that make more sense, and/or is this already done somewhere?

Okay I know what your saying now. Cummulate stats are given by IIP pal and also this is done by threads itself in the admin panel. As far as by month each month that would require a hack to be written for this. Threads by default displays last week month and cummulative total. This is the place to suggest it. Now if you would like one of our developers to personally write this hack for you for a modest fee if no one here is interesting in writing this up any time soon feel free to post in the Developers for Hire forum. I am sure someone can help you out.

Thanks omeg!

I was actually just suggesting it..... I'll look, think, and ponder for a while and maybe take on doing it myself. I thought I'd suggest it first though.

It just seems like threads generates lot's of stats, and it's a shame that they are lost after the end of the month.

It is not that they are lost. The date is stored in the tables.

Oh, so then this mod could be really easy? If you're saying the data is stored, just not displayed? Did I understand that correctly?

Well the fields if I understand what your asking are going to be the following

For the posts the date is stored in the B_Posted table

For the users the registered date is stored in in U_Registered and the last time they were on is stored in U_Laston.

These are all saved as a Unix Timestamp. The timestamp is the current time measured in the number of seconds since the Unix Epoch (January 1 1970 00:00:00 GMT).

Here is a utility to help you figure out what the date is in epoch time. The time.php script is posted here somewhere by me:
